Description
Recombinant erythropoietin enhanced tubular proliferation in cisplatin-induced AKI218 and also mediated mobilization and proliferation of endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) from the bone marrow that has been shown to participate tissue repair.
Recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) is administered to patients who have lower hemoglobin levels because of their inability to produce enough endogenous erythropoietin. These include patients having chronic kidney disease (CKD), patients dependent on dialysis, HIV infection and malignancy.
